Citizen Talk on Adams Pond Nov. 20
Event Date
Friday, November 20, 2026 - 03:00 pmCommunity members are invited to a “Citizen Talk” and information sharing meeting to learn more about what’s been happening to Adams Pond’s health. The meeting will take place at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.
The water company is my only abutter and for 36 years, we shared chores until September 2024. I am the Boothbay town rep on the Clean Drinking Water Initiative (CDWI) since 2020. I was and still am a strong supporter of the 2024 grant that created the buffer between Adams Pond, a small, rainfall-limited water reservoir with an average depth of 12 feet and maximum depth of 20 feet. Together with Knickerbocker Lake, it is the primary source of water for residential and seasonal households. The grant is a model for an innovative way to protect our water health.
I am inviting the community to talk and learn about what’s been happening at Adams Pond and as well as what I see as an erosion of our shared community values by individuals not following common sense and the grant guidelines. I hope all who are interested in protecting our water supply, including Knickerbocker Lake and West Harbor Pond will contribute to the discussion. If you have questions or comments, I can be reached by email at jeanniehamrin23@gmail.com.
